Petition filed to recall Sorrento council member
SORRENTO - The Secretary of State's Office said a petition was filed Wednesday morning to recall a member of Sorrento's Town Council.
The petition targeted Randy Anny, who served as Mayor Pro Tem and ran the town while former mayor Wilson Longanecker Jr. was absent with medical problems. It was filed by petition chair Doris D. Lee and vice-chair Ivan Bernuchaux, Jr.
Sorrento's Town Council rejected an insurance quote Tuesday night which would have provided necessary coverage for their police department. They also approved allowing the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office step in to provide law enforcement until the end of the year.
News 2 will have more on the recall in tonight's broadcasts.
