Petition filed to recall Gonzales councilman
GONZALES- Councilman Gary Lacombe will face a recall election in December after organizers gathered 2,281 signatures to make the city leader fight for his job on the ballot.
Lacombe is one of two councilmen, including Timothy Vessel, targeted by a group called Save Gonzales because of their votes against hot-button zoning issues that cost the city job opportunities.
Lacombe also was part of a vote that initially blocked funding for a park designed for disabled children. That funding was eventually passed.
Lacombe, Vessel, and Terance Irvin also gutted parts of the city's budget, slashing funding to the police department in a recent amendment to the Capital Outlay budget. That budget was vetoed by the Mayor last week.
Results on Vessel's recall are expected in the next few days.
