UPDATE: 69-year-old hit, killed on Hwy. 16

DENHAM SPRINGS- State Police released the name of a man, killed on Hwy. 16 Wednesday night.
Troopers said John L. Barker, 69, was hit and killed.
The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. near Eastover Blvd. Eastover is between Petes Hwy. and Wax Rd.
Investigators said Barker walked into the highway, and into the path of a van. The driver of the van swerved to avoid him, but wasn't able to troopers said.
Barker may have been impaired, and a toxicology test will be performed. Troopers do not believe the driver was impaired.
