BRPD: Man hit by train near Tigerland
BATON ROUGE- Authorities are investigating after a man was hit by a train near Tigerland early Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 2 a.m. Friday morning. The collision happened on the train tracks that run parallel to Nicholson Drive near LSU's campus.
According to BRPD Sgt. Don Coppola, a 19-year-old male was walking soutbound on the outside railing of the tracks. The train was coming northbound.
The train had audible warnings and the male did not move from the tracks and as a result was struck by the train.
He was later taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains there as of Friday 9 a.m.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to Coppola.
