DENHAM SPRINGS - Emergency officials asked Livingston Parish residents to take time from their cleanup efforts and call in any water damage they received from recent flooding.

The parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness needs the information to apply for any public assistance that could be made available.

The parish is one of 19 across the state which declared emergencies after heavy rain and flooding last week. Many parts of the parish are still underwater as rivers continue to be swollen with runoff from the rain. Gov. Bobby Jindal also issued a statewide emergency declaration to help parishes deal with flooding problems.

People with water damage to their home should call the parish hotline, (225) 686-3996, with the following information: name, address, contact number, if you have flood insurance, and how much water was in your home.
