BATON ROUGE- People living in Gardere say years of increased law enforcement efforts are still paying off.
A man was shot and killed during a deadly confrontation Monday night on Helm Drive near Skysail.
News 2 spoke with several people who say those types of incidents appear to be isolated.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's office opened a substation in Gardere a few years ago. They also increased patrols and used more community policing activity.
People say the patrols are adequate. One homeowner says it appears deputies are doing everything they can to cut down on the violence.
