People continue to honor inspirational 11-year-old
BATON ROUGE- A young hero was memorialized through canned food donations Monday night.
People donated canned goods to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank in honor of 11-year-old Trevor Sims, who died after a battle with cancer earlier this year. He set a goal to feed the hungry before he died.
The food drive was at State Representative Regina Barrow's annual toy giveaway where kids who donated food were given a toy.
"He would be very happy and very pleased about what we are doing here tonight," Barrow said.
"Not only are we honoring his vision and making sure no family went hungry, but also that a child receives a gift for Christmas."
This week, a bridge near downtown will dedicated to Trevor.
