PORT ALLEN - State police say a 57-year-old Plaquemine man has died of injuries after being struck by a pickup on U.S. Highway 190.
The accident happened shortly after 1:45 a.m. Friday west of La. Highway 1145 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Troopers say Nathan C. Tobias, Jr. was placing orange warning triangles in the roadway to alert motorists of a crash between two 18-wheelers when he was hit by a pickup.
Tobias was taken by ambulance to Baton Rouge General Mid-City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the pick up, 19 year old Dylan G. Hood of Brusly, has been charged with negligent homicide and careless operation of a motor vehicle. He was booked into the West Baton Rouge parish jail early this morning.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
