Pedestrian struck, killed by suspected drunk driver
CHAUVIN - According to Louisiana State Police, a Montegut man was killed when he was hit by a car while walking on the side of LA 58 in Terrebonne Parish.
Troopers say Shane Authement, 28, was pronounced dead after he was hit by Ernie Driskill, 53, who was driving eastbound near the 300 block of LA 58. It happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday night.
Investigators say Driskill submitted to a breath test and was found to be over the legal limit of .08g%. He was charged with vehicular homicide and could face more if alcohol impairment is confirmed to be a factor in the case.
The crash remains under investigation.
