Pedestrian killed on Florida Blvd. identified
WALKER - Police have identified the man who was killed crossing Florida Boulevard in Walker as Harold Eggleston, 61.
Walker police say Eggleston was heading westbound when he stopped his tractor-trailer in the center turning lane of Florida Boulevard at the North Corbin Road intersection. He got out of the cab and spoke to a nearby person. Eggleston then went back to his truck to get a notepad and was hit while walking back to the sidewalk.
Police say the accident was unavoidable for the man driving the pickup truck that struck Eggleston.
Officials say they do not believe Eggleston was impaired.
The accident caused Florida Boulevard to be closed down for some time as police worked the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
