Pedestrian killed in St. Helena Parish
MONTPELLER - State police say a 76-year-old Independence man was struck by a car and killed.
The accident happened Tuesday night on La. Highway 43 in St. Helena Parish.
Trooper Greg Marchand says Joe Freeman was standing in the front of his home, bent over to pick up an objecting, lost his balance and stumbled into the southbound lane and was hit by a car.
Marchand said Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene by the St Helena Parish Coroner's Office.
The driver of the car was not injured.
