BATON ROUGE – Police say a man was killed Saturday after being struck by a car while trying to cross I-10 on foot.

According to Baton Rouge Police, 50-year-old Melvin Coleman died at on the scene after being struck by a Honda Accord on I-10 east near East Washington Street around 12:30 a.m.

Police said the crash caused a secondary crash involving three other pickup trucks. Occupants from the Accord and one of the pickups were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

BRPD said the crash remains under investigation.
