Pedestrian hit, killed Thursday morning
BATON ROUGE - According to Louisiana State Police, a Winnfield man was killed in Baton Rouge Thursday morning when he was hit by a truck.
Investigators say Robert M. Vines, 62, was trying to cross LA Hwy 73 at Floynell Dr. when he was hit by a truck driven by David Phillips, 59. They say a car in the right lane stopped to allow Vines to cross, but also blocked Phillips' view, leading to the accident.
Vines was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. Phillips was not cited in the accident, and state police don't believe impairment was a factor.
