Payton putting nearly all Saints on notice
METAIRIE - Saints coach Sean Payton is putting nearly all of his players on notice, whether he winds up making any significant late-season changes or not.
One day after a potentially costly 27-16 loss in St. Louis against a Rams club that is out of the playoff picture, Payton says he and his staff are "looking closely at every element" of their team.
However, Payton declined to say whether his decision to bench left tackle Charles Brown during Sunday's loss would carry over to this week's game at Carolina. He also declined to specify whether kicker Garrett Hartley's job is jeopardy after two failed field goals from short range.
The Saints can still win the NFC South, but also could miss the playoffs if they don't win at least once more.
