Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
METAIRIE, La. (AP) - New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has put his players on notice.
Payton, who spoke Monday after reviewing video of New Orleans' 41-10 loss to Carolina, says he doesn't "rule out any changes" to the lineup as the Saints enter their final three games.
Payton says players understand the situation is serious and that coaches are prepared to consider new options to get the job done following four losses in five games.
At 5-8, the Saints are still very much in the NFC South race, a half-game behind first-place Atlanta before the Falcons' game at Green Bay on Monday night.
But based on recent form, Payton says his team has only "a small sliver of hope" for postseason play.
The Saints return to action next Monday night in Chicago.
