SAN FRANCISCO- Passengers on a light rail train were so absorbed in their phones and tablets they didn't see a man flashing a gun several times, who's accused of shooting a college student.

Justin Valdez was shot in the back of the head as he got off the train.

Nikhom Thephakaysone pleaded not guilty to the murder.

Prosecutors say Thephakaysone was looking for a victim and randomly chose Valdez and the moments before the shooting were captured on a train camera.

The District Attorney says passengers close to the shooter didn't notice the gun because they were so engrossed in reading and texting.
