Paul Dietzel remembered by coaches, players
BATON ROUGE - Paul Dietzel was the first coach to bring a national title and a Heisman trophy winner to Baton Rouge.
In fact, he was the first LSU coach to propose white jerseys, the "Chinese Bandits," and night games in Tiger Stadium.
Dietzel would eventually go to coach Army in 1961, but the lineage he left behind at LSU can't be quantified.
