Patio makeover with Rachel Cannon Lewis
Summer is finally here, and with it, the promise of lots of fun in the sun.
Interior designer Rachel Cannon Lewis showed WBRZ's Brittany Weiss five simple tips to create an inviting outdoor space during this before and after patio makeover.
First, she suggests creating a vibrant color scheme with throw pillows to introduce color and pattern. Search local home accessories stores for great-looking pillows in outdoor friendly fabrics.
Next, anchor your outdoor furniture with an outdoor area rug - preferably in a neutral color, as this is a large expense, and you'll want to get a few good years out of it.
Third, add decorative accessories that tie into your color scheme to add interest to your table top surfaces. Fourth, introduce potted plants to liven up the space and add a lush texture; and if you lack a green thumb, she suggests opting for one or two well-made faux florals.
And finally, bring in additional seating for company as needed. Rachel "borrowed" two ottomans from indoors during the patio makeover that can be used in a pinch to seat extra guests.
This outdoor living room went from drab to fab with these five easy tips.
