Rewinding to 2013, the snow season over the lower 48 states and in Alaska found early season snows in the East and an Alaskan snow pack that was slow. The 2014 season will certainly be much different as annual snowfall for selected cities were identified. The lowest levels for selected cities included Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina at 1.7 inches, compared to their average of 5.9 inches. Washington
D.C. was also at the bottom of the list with 3.1 inches when normally they post 14.5 inches. Amarillo came in above their average of 17.8 with 28.1 while Des Moines logged 55.2 when 34.9 is their average. The big totals included: Rochester-78.1", Portland, Maine-98.0", and Duluth at 129.4 inches. The city with the most? Marquette at 214.6 inches.
