Pat Shingleton: "The Moon and Honeymoon"

1 year ago November 15, 2013 Nov 15, 2013 Friday, November 15 2013 Friday, November 15, 2013 4:37:20 PM EST in Pat Shingleton Column

The November full moon will reach 100% illumination Sunday evening with moonrise at 5:23 PM. Native Americans referred to it as the Full Beaver Moon. The term "honeymoon" originated in the 1500s as newlyweds enjoyed "fullness"-after their marriage. Once settled, it was presumed their experience would "wane"-as a "waning" moon. In 2011 Erika Svanstrom and her husband, Stefan, experienced an unusual honeymoon. They experienced six natural disasters that began with a major snowstorm in Munich, followed by a cyclone in Cairns, Australia and catastrophic flooding in Brisbane. When they arrived in New Zealand... a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck. They were in Tokyo when another earthquake occurred and ended their trip with a monsoon in Bali.
