Erie, PA will be hit with additional snow today and during my days there at Gannon University, snow storms were so intense, white-outs were common. Due to blizzard conditions they sky and ground are indistinguishable. We trekked to class by grasping ropes, attached to maple trees, along State St. Erie is located in a "snowbelt" and Dan Geary or "Capt. Dan" is the town's mainstay in getting folks through the storms on his morning radio program. Dan was also instrumental in getting me my first radio assignment on WWYN. School cancellations are rare in Erie as they are prepared for snow removal with spreading salt to combat the storms. Dan and Pete Fresina not only talk about the snow storms they drive the ploughs that remove the piling snow.
