The government shut down prompted responses from those whose expertise is always needed. Scientists responsible for predicting extreme weather events and other related duties are on-the-job, without pay. Creative forecasters in Anchorage, Alaska, decided to "bury" a message inside a standard forecast discussion. The discussion was issued last Friday. Crafted within the 11-line description are creative words, on the left-hand margin, such as: pressures, level, eases, amalgamating, speeds, entering, pushing, although, yesterday's, underneath, sustained.
