Pat Shingleton: Oooops!
It seems that snow adds to the Christmas season. As noted in a previous column, winter weather prompted disciplinary actions of my father. After Mass at St. Agatha's Church in Ellwood City, PA, Dad would routinely purchase the Youngstown Vindicator or the Pittsburgh Press. This particular Sunday was snowy as sheets of ice coated the sidewalks and church steps. Outside the church, we would visit with friends and noticed a robust lady proceeding down the steps, losing her balance, slipping on the ice and immediately going airborne. Spinning and swirling across the icy sidewalk in the midst of ohhhhs, ahhhs, and a few screams, she "spun-out" next to my brother Mike and me. Kids do goofy things and my reaction and my Dad's actions tomorrow.
