Pat Shingleton: "I'll Be Home...For Christmas"
Like many students today our "college" days found us loading the car for the trek home. At Gannon University, Marty DeRose was the wheel man, transporting our fraternity brothers to Meadville, Ellwood City and Beaver Falls, PA. We exited Erie, days before Christmas in 1969, with light flurries. We were in the Snowbelt at Meadville;an area that picks up persistent snowfalls due the "Lake Effect." Tracking down I-79 found snow accumulations to the 4 inch level. On this occasion, all passengers except myself and Bob Barker were successfully delivered. Due to long hours at the wheel and conditions, Marty needed to stop at Duffy's Tavern in Fombell. As it snowed outside, Little Joe was bangin' out tunes on the piano for a bunch of college kids.
