We will await the results from the State Climatologist Office, located at LSU, with expectations that January, 2014 was the coldest on record. Super cold, Arctic blasts are not uncommon for our area as we slide into February. Recently, viewers and readers have reminded me of previous cold episodes such as the "teen" regime recorded in December of 1988. Yesterday's "viewer pics" included an ice patch on University Lakes. January 29, 1966 found a record daytime high of 20 degrees and a record overnight low of 15. The true freezing point of water is the ice point. The frozen City Park Lake was filmed by television engineer, John White, as I was fortunate to televise those episodes in 1978. The film showcased many Baton Rougeans ice skating.
