Parkview Baptist head football coach steps down
BATON ROUGE - Kenny Guillot, the head football coach at Parkview Baptist who led the Eagles to four state championships, announced Thursday he was stepping down due to health reasons.
Guillot coached high school football for 37 years, and said he would remain at PBS as the school's athletic director.
"After my round with cancer last spring, I have made the decision... in the best interest of my health and my family," Guillot said. "I'm thankful to have been able to do a job that I love for so many years and to have the ability to end my coaching career with no regrets."
Guillot began coaching at Parkview in 1999, and during his tenure the Eagles won nine district championships and four state titles in 2001, 2007, 2010, and 2012. He also amassed a 164-31 record while PBS's head coach.
Superintendent Don Mayes said the process to name a new head coach would begin soon.
