The president of St. John the Baptist Parish resigned Thursday after he was charged in a federal bribery case.

William J. Hubbard is accused of soliciting checks totalling $20,000 from three vendors who had contracts with the parish.  The money was apparently was to be used for Hubbard to buy a new car.

He is named in a bill of information made public Thursday.  The document was filed under seal in federal court late last month.
