The president of St. John the Baptist Parish resigned Thursday after he was charged in a federal bribery case.
William J. Hubbard is accused of soliciting checks totalling $20,000 from three vendors who had contracts with the parish. The money was apparently was to be used for Hubbard to buy a new car.
He is named in a bill of information made public Thursday. The document was filed under seal in federal court late last month.
A plea hearing is scheduled for Friday.
