ASCENSION PARISH- Parents and the school system here are concerned about road sizes. Tuesday, a school bus clipped an automobile on a narrow road. It was the second crash forced because of "tight roads" in 2012.
"It's dangerous," said Annette Leon. Leon's two kids ride the school bus.
"We have had accidents out here before... a bus and a car, or even.. a larger truck," Leon said.
School buses just barely fit inside lanes, leaving little room for maneuverability.
School system leaders know there's a concern. But, the fix means more road work.
That's a topic for voters. This week, the Ascension Parish Council is set to vote on sending a half-cent sales tax for road improvements to tax payers. A parish-wide vote would be on the November ballot.
