LAFAYETTE- Police say a parent was arrested Wednesday after a confrontation with a teacher at S.J. Montgomery School.

Cpl. Paul Mouton tells The Advocate that Benjamin C. Phillips of Crowley was arrested for battery on a teacher.

Mouton said police were called to respond to a disturbance at the school around 1:30 p.m.

He said a parent-teacher conference was under way and Phillips got into a "physical altercation" with the unidentified teacher.

It was unclear whether Phillips has an attorney.
