Pair of accidents cause backups on I-10 East and West
BATON ROUGE - It's traffic in both directions headed into and out of Baton Rouge as accidents in the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 have caused gridlock for afternoon commuters.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m., DOTD reported all lanes blocked on I-10 East on the Mississippi River Bridge due to an accident. Congestion was already backed up past LA 415 at the time.
Traffic officials announced all lanes of I-10 East were cleared shortly after 4 p.m. with traffic stretching to the Iberville Parish line.
Traffic officials recommend LA 415 North to US 190 East as an alternate route for eastbound motorists.
Congestion remains on I-10 West due to an earlier accident at South Acadian that caused severe slowdowns between College Driver and Perkins Road.
