Woman killed in Saturday afternoon crash
NAPOLEONVILLE – State Police say a Paincourtville woman was killed Saturday after another vehicle crossed a center line and crashed into her SUV.
Louisiana State Police say 58-year-old Cheryl Hebert was driving south on LA 308 when, for unknown reasons, a Chevy Tahoe crossed the center line and struck her Toyota 4Runner.
Investigators say Hebert was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers received minor injuries.
The driver of the Tahoe, 25-year-old Katie Landry was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Troopers say both Hebert and Landry were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
LSP said the crash is still under investigation. Troopers do not know whether impairment was a factor in the crash and toxicology results are still pending for Landry.
