Owner of popular eatery on the defensive after drug arrest
BATON ROUGE - Deputies arrested the owner of a popular Spanish Town business on drug charges recently.
Authorities said they found marijuana and LSD in the home of Taylor Blanche, 26. Blanche owns the Spanish Town Market.
Deputies wrote in arrest reports, an informant said Blanche was using the market as a stash house for his drugs. But, a search of both the business and Blanche's house only turned up drugs at the residence. There, they found172 grams of marijuana and six hits of LSD.
Blanche said he does not sell drugs, but confessed to using marijuana for medicinal purposes. But, he said he did not realize he had LSD in his house.
"I should have thrown it away. I didn't make plans to take it," he said. "To be honest with you, I didn't even know I had it."
Blanche claims deputies said they would arrest his wife if he refused to give up where he got the drugs.
An EBRSO spokesperson said no threats were made.
Deputies charged Blanche with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and LSD, possession of drug paraphernalia and an unregistered firearm.
