Outdoors Report: Duck Season Arrives
BATON ROUGE - Duck season opened last weekend in the West Zone, and the East Zone is just days away from starting.
"Opening morning is the best morning of them all, because you know there are going to be a lot of ducks out there," explains Ron Guidry from Deaux Chenes Hunting Club. "But it's kind of hard because it seems like half of civilization is sitting within a five-mile radius of where you are."
There are plenty of teals still in the area and a lot of spoon bills to fill an early season limit. Around the coast, there were mixed bags of mallard, greys and some model ducks, but the majority of big ducks will arrive as stronger fronts push south.
