Out-of-town campers in line for free chicken
BATON ROUGE- People lined up overnight Wednesday, hoping to be one of the first 100 in line at a new Chick-Fil-A location.
The location on Airline Highway opens Thursday. The first 100 get free chicken for a year.
Campers have come as far away as California, Florida, Illinois, and four other states. They are sleeping in tents.
"Somebody came up to me and said, 'there's a difference between a raving fan and someone who is crazy, and you're right near that line,'" said Rich Fitzgerald. He traveled from Illinois to Baton Rouge. And, he laughs at the thought of people thinking he is nuts.
Fitzgerald has been to 37 openings.
The store is also collecting food for the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
