Orleans Parish Prison escapee found in Baton Rouge
NEW ORLEANS - An Orleans Parish prisoner who escaped Friday from one of the jail's temporary housing centers was captured within 48 hours.
The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office tells The Times-Picayune 40-year-old Mitchell Manning was found in a Baton Rouge hotel around 10:50 a.m. Sunday. He was arrested without incident.
Authorities also arrested 30-year-old Tawaina White, who admitted to providing Manning with a cell phone and cash. She was booked with assisting a simple escape. White also violated a Protective Order issued by the court related to Manning's pending charge of domestic abuse battery.
