BATON ROUGE- There is still strong opposition to the Baton Rouge loop, despite attempts to keep the project alive.
Baton Rouge Mayor President Kip Holden has fought for the project.
Other leaders in surrounding areas say it is not a good move. A series of public forums continue this week in the region as part of the environmental study for the loop.
Opponents say extending Hooper Road or improving Florida Boulevard makes more sense. They say expressway type lanes could be added to Florida while leaving additional lanes for non-toll use.
