BATON ROUGE – All of I-110 has reopened, hours after authorities successfully removed ice from all other major highway systems.

I-10 and I-12 were reopened before 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon.  Traffic was able to navigate from Lafayette to Baton Rouge to New Orleans and into Mississippi.

I-110 remained closed for most of the day. After 8 p.m., DOTD officials tweeted that I-110 Northbound had reopened from the 10/110 split to Harding at the Baton Rouge Airport. Authorities expected most of the road to be closed because of ice until Friday.

Crews were sent to the Baton Rouge area from all parts of the state to help deal with the issues that plagued the interstates since late Tuesday due to the freeze.  Traffic had not been allowed on any of them since then.

Authorities said the primary focus was reopening the New Bridge – the I-10 Mississippi River crossing in downtown Baton Rouge. Authorities said Thursday, they used salt, sand and brine along with heavy equipment.
