BATON ROUGE - To speed up and improve the application process for concealed handgun permits, residents can now access applications online.
Louisiana State Police say applicants must have a valid email account to receive a unique application number that will be used throughout the process. Once an application is accepted, applicants will get payment instructions.
State police say the online process is more efficient and applicants "can expect to receive their permits quicker than when submitting the traditional paper application packets."
In addition, both online and paper applications will now use the applicant's Louisiana driver's license or identification card photo instead of passport photos and applicants are encouraged to submit fingerprints electronically at state police headquarters in Baton Rouge.
Applications are available via the Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit website found at http://chp-web.dps.louisiana.gov
