PORT ALLEN - An undercover drug operation in Port Allen ended with a fatal shooting, according to the sheriff of West Baton Rouge Parish.

Sheriff Mike Caze confirmed to News 2 that an undercover operation involving his deputies and Louisiana State Police was taking place at the Motel 6 near I-10 when the shooting happened.

Caze would not confirm who the victim was.

State Police would also not comment on the shooting or undercover operation.

Caze said more information would be released first thing in the morning.
