One person dead after fiery crash on I-110
BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge Police say one person is dead after crash on the southbound lanes of Interstate 110 near Weller Avenue.
Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Myrone LeBlanc. Police say LeBlanc was driving a 2001 Honda Accord and attempted to merge from the center lane to the inside lane when it was struck from behind by a 2012 Nissan Altima.
Photos of the scene show two cars heavily damaged with smoke coming from one of the vehicles. BRPD says they believe the impact caused the gas tank to rupture and ignite the Honda in flames. BRPD says the Traffic Homicide division is still investigating the crash.
