One man dead shortly after shots fired in New Iberia
NEW IBERIA - One man died after police responded to shots being fired around the 500 block of St. Mary at 10:30 p.m. Friday.
After Iberia Parish Sheriff's office responded to the scene, deputies discovered a single black male victim with gunshot wounds in a vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole. The victim succumbed to his injuries before Acadian ambulance service arrived, officials said.
Officials are currently investigating this case. Identification and cause of death will be determined by the coroner's office.
