Police ID victim in deadly shooting
BATON ROUGE - Police released the name of a man shot and killed on North 35th Street in Baton Rouge Wednesday night.
Cpl. Don Coppola said Travis Mitchell, 25, died after being shot in the face and the side.
Police responded to a shots fired call just before midnight in the 1400 block of North 35th Street. Officers said they found Mitchell and an woman both had been shot.
Coppola said officers pronounced Mitchell dead at the scene, and the woman was taken to a hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
Investigators asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869.
