One dead in early morning crash

One man is dead after a high-speed rollover crash after 2 a.m. Friday morning on LA 37 at LA 3034 when the truck he was driving ran off the road.

Nathan C. Wallace of Greenwell Springs was driving north on LA 37 at a high rate of speed when he drifted off the roadway to the right.  The pickup entered a ditch, struck a culvert, and vaulted into the air.  The pickup then struck two mailboxes and two tree stumps and began to roll over.

During the rollover, Wallace was ejected and the pickup landed on top of him.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Alcohol is not suspected, but Troopers have submitted Wallace’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.  Speed and lack of seat belt use are both considered factors in Wallace’s death.
