One dead in alleged drug feud
HOUMA - Authorities say a 36-year-old Houma man was shot and killed in an argument over drugs.
Terrebonne Parish sheriff's Capt. Dawn Foret tells The Courier Dicarie James crashed his car after being shot in the Crozier community near Dularge late Saturday night.
Foret says neighbors told deputies patrolling the area that they heard gunshots and a car crash.
She says deputies found the wrecked car and followed a trail of blood to James, who was lying in a yard and had multiple gunshot wounds.
Before he lost consciousness, Foret says James allegedly told deputies that 19-year-old Matthew Allen shot him.
James died a short time later at Terrebonne General Medical Center.
Allen was arrested Sunday morning and booked with second-degree murder.
It was unclear whether Allen has an attorney.
