ASCENSION PARISH - Authorities say one person is dead following a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police, the vehicle went into a ditch around 9:30 a.m. and hit a concrete culvert. Authorities closed Highway 44 between Bertville Road and Highway 931 after the incident, but reopened the roadway before 12:30 p.m.

Police have identified the victim as 20-year-old Isis V. Griggs of Prairieville. She died at the scene.

State Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Routine toxicology samples were taken for analysis.
