PORT VINCENT - A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash shortly after midnight Saturday on LA 42 south of Watts Road, according to Louisiana State Police Tpr. Russell Graham.

Graham says 50-year-old William Stewart of Port Allen was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion east on LA 42 when the car ran off the road and struck an embankment, vaulting the car into the air. The car landed on its roof.

Stewart was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office.

Troopers suspect alcohol impairment as a factor in the crash, and a sample of Stewart's blood has been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, according to Graham.
