BATON ROUGE - Authorities arrested two people and a third was sent to the hospital with severe burns after a suspected meth lab fire overnight, according to Baton Rouge firefighters.

Robert Combs with BRFD said one person received severe burns to much of their body in the apartment fire on Carol Street, which happened just before midnight.

"[I] looked through the window and saw a woman running in circles in the front yard," said Hamilton Ridenour, who lives nearby, "the firemen grabbed her to make sure she couldn't go back inside and then they grabbed a hose, hosed it down and then started to take aluminum foil off the windows that looked like they were blacking them out."

Firefighters said it started in the bedroom of the apartment, and they found the remnants of the meth lab after putting it out.

Now neighbors are upset to hear drugs could've be cooking so close to home, but they're not surprised.

"Obviously they can make it anywhere, and any idiot can seem to make it, and it'll probably spread here because they make it cheap, yeah ,so there's nothing stopping it from getting all over the place," said Ridenour.

Combs said investigators arrested two people, 34-year-old Joseph Garcia and 32-year-old Pietra Brocato, on suspicion of operating a clandestine lab and aggravated arson.

He said they also planned to arrest the injured person once they were released from the hospital.
