BATON ROUGE - One man has been arrested and boxes of items seized as part of a counterfeit merchandise bust at a Baton Rouge flea market.
News 2 was first on the scene as agents raided the #1 Outlet Flea Market on Florida Blvd. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, ICE, appeared to be leading the activity.
Purses, wallets and other gear were placed in cardboard boxes and hauled away; there was so much evidence to collect agents had to call in a forklift.
The U.S. Border Patrol says a Senegalese man was arrested on immigration charges as part of this ongoing investigation. Federal agencies would not release any other information about the investigation.
Shoppers say they were shocked by the police activity. Some say they only shopped at the stands offering jewelry, makeup and other merchandise that appeared to be legitimate. Others say something did not appear right at other stands because they appeared to be selling expensive, designer items at a flea market.
