ON TO OMAHA! Tiger bats turn it on late, finish off ULL 6-3 in Super Regional game 2
BATON ROUGE - The LSU Tigers are heading to the College World Series for the 17th time after defeating ULL 6-3 in game 2 of their Super Regional.
Kade Scivicque put LSU's first run on the board in the 7th, as a solo home run gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers got 4 more in the 8th, as Alex Bregman and Connor Hale each delivered a 2 run hit.
The early part of the game was a classic pitchers duel with Gunner Leger (ULL) and Jared Poche' (LSU) both throwing shutout ball through 6 innings.
Poche' struck out 7 through 7 and 2/3, while Leger struck out 4 over that same span, but the Tigers were able to get to Leger after a fantastic start from the Cajun's freshman.
LSU has now reached the CWS for the 4th time under head coach Paul Mainieri, with the club winning the title in 2009 under Mainieri's guidance.
