PECAN ISLAND - The kids are gone and there are no more tests being administered in classrooms, but one coastal school has a few more lessons to teach and they all deal with living the great life along the Gulf of Mexico.

The 51-year-old Pecan Island School has been renovated into a hunting lodge and is now for sale. The "one-of-a-kind" retreat, as the real estate listing boasts, comes with leases and duck blinds for hunters.

It's being sold as a lodge and corporate retreat. The cafeteria, gymnasium with bleacher and a stage all remain. There is even an Olympic size indoor swimming pool, outdoor tennis court and track. The campus that's now a lodge is on about five acres in the small Vermilion Parish community of about 300. It overlooks marshland toward the Gulf.

"The building has never flooded and has survived every hurricane since 1964 without damage," agent James Noel said.

Pictures posted online show classrooms converted into suites and meeting rooms. The gym's wood floor is restored to its original luster.

The lodge is about 39,000 square feet. It is listed for $950,000; about $24.32 per square foot.
